We participate in most of the plans that are available to members of the community. As a courtesy to our patients, our insurance clerks will check on any plan about which there is a question. We will gladly file your insurance claims for you, but please remember the responsibility for payment of fees is the direct obligation of the patient. Please feel free to contact our insurance department with any questions regarding your account.
Insurance coverage can vary depending on your individual plan, carrier, and policy terms. Benefits such as deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and coverage limitations are determined by your insurance provider and may change from year to year. Because of this, we encourage patients to review their benefits carefully and contact their insurance company directly if they have questions about coverage, exclusions, or out-of-pocket responsibilities.
Our office makes every effort to submit claims accurately and in a timely manner. However, insurance companies may request additional information, deny claims, or apply payments in ways that differ from expectations. If a claim is denied or partially paid, the remaining balance becomes the responsibility of the patient. Prompt attention to statements and communication with both our office and your insurance provider can help resolve issues efficiently.
Please notify our insurance department as soon as possible if your insurance information changes. Updated information helps prevent billing delays and ensures accurate claim submission. Patients without insurance or with plans that do not cover certain services may discuss payment options with our billing staff.
We require a copy of your insurance card and a photo ID at check-in. In addition, please bring a current medications list with you. Copays are collected at check-in. We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Expedite your wait time!
Arriving early for your first appointment allows time to complete any necessary paperwork and helps ensure your visit runs smoothly. If you have received new patient forms in advance, completing them before your appointment can further reduce wait times. Your medications list should include prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and vitamins, along with dosage and frequency information.
If you have prior medical records, imaging studies, or test results related to your visit, bringing copies may be helpful. Providing thorough and accurate information allows your provider to better understand your medical history and tailor care to your needs.
Our physicians have hospital privileges at Roper Hospital, Roper Berkeley Hospital, Roper St. Francis Hospital, and Roper Mt. Pleasant Hospital.
Hospital privileges allow our physicians to continue overseeing your care if hospitalization, procedures, or specialized services are required. This coordination helps ensure continuity of care between outpatient visits and hospital-based treatment. While not every patient will require hospital services, these privileges allow for seamless communication and collaboration when necessary.
Certain insurances require referrals to see specialists for a covered visit. You will need to check with your insurance carrier to see if this is necessary.
Referral requirements vary by insurance plan, particularly for HMO or managed care policies. Failure to obtain a required referral prior to your appointment may result in denied coverage, making you responsible for the full cost of the visit. Patients are encouraged to confirm referral requirements with their primary care provider and insurance carrier before scheduling an appointment. Our staff is happy to assist with general questions, but obtaining proper authorization remains the patient’s responsibility.
We are committed to making every aspect of your experience with our practice as clear and straightforward as possible. If you have questions at any point—whether related to insurance coverage, billing, referrals, appointments, or hospital coordination—our staff is here to help guide you. Open communication helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures that you can focus on what matters most: your health and well-being. We appreciate the trust you place in our physicians and team and look forward to providing you with attentive, professional care.
